In the past hundred years, there have heen frequent natural disasters, such as floods, droughts, mud-rock flows, seismic sea waves, earthquakes, windstorms and the stretching of new deserts. The disasters have killed millions upon millions of people, destroyed countless homes, and wiped out numerous pieces of fertile land.
Now more and more people become aware that those disasters have much to do with what we have done to the earth. We have cut down too many trees in the forests,we have badly polluted the environment, we have shocked our own home-planet time and against with tremendously powerful explosions of nuclear bombs. As a result, climates have become abnormal, rainwater rushes down hillsides angrily, and the underground energy goes up to revenge itself on us.
The earth is our only home-planet. It is urgent for us to stop damaging it, and to do our best to protect it and make it a lovely place suitable to live in, for we have nowhere to go and survive except where we are now.

May 12th, 2008. That’s the most mournful day for our Chinese that will never be forgotten, because a horrible earthquake happened in Wenchuan, which caused tens of thousands of children’s death.
On hearing the news, I felt so sorrowful. “Why was the god so cruel to them?” I asked. They were still at the entrance of the life. They seemed like little eagles that were willing to open their wings and hover in the sky. Maybe they would have their brilliant future. What a great loss to our nation! I had my deepest sympathy on the people in the disastrous area. So I donated some money and clothes to them. And I also prayed for the dead people sincerely. I eagerly hope that there would be no earthquakes in the future, so that we could live a more peaceful life.

On May 12, 2008, there was an earthquake happened in Wenchuan, Sichuan province. More than 69000 people had lost their lives, 374643 people had injured and 17923 people could not be found in this earthquake. After the earthquake had happened, people from all the field joined the rescue teams. At that moment, people only care about one thing, that was to save more people from this disaster and encourage the injure to be strong. After seven day, the chairman declared that May 19 is the national day of mourning. Flags were at half-mast everywhere on the day of mourning for victims of Wenchuan earthquake.
The mourning day is to remember the people who lost their lives in the earthquake, on one hand, is to remind people do not forget that day, don’t forget about the past and look into the future; on the other hand, is to encourage the survivers to stay strong. Life is worth living for.
Although Earthquake had destroyed our home, but we can build a brand-new one. We can rebuild our hope. Just as Nixon said so, our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity. So let us seize it, not in fear, but in gladness. Just have a little faith. Just try to remember that everything will be alright. We will find what we are looking for in the future.
